      SIKORSKY H-19

      In March of 1954 the FAP received a Sikorsky UH-19A, was the first existing helicopter in Portugal, used in search and rescue in the 4th Air Base (B.A.4), Lajes, Azores. It received FAP number 9101, previously it are number 51-7139 of the USAF.

      In the nose was equipped with an engine Wright GR-1300-3 Cyclone of 800 hp, reached the speed of 180 Km/h and had a range of 578 km Was abated to the servico in 1964, today only exists parts of this helicopter in the Museum of Air. In the color photos is a UH-19A helicopter of Italian origin, painted with the original colors of the Portuguese UH-19A, that belongs to the Museum of Air in Sintra, Portugal.
